Growth Surge

NEW DEVELOPMENTS DRIVING GROWTH

Three major new developments will ensure Mt Washington's continued burgeoning growth.

  1. Santa Rosa Systems. This company is investing over $16.15 million and opening a manufacturing facility on 23 acres in the Mount Washington Business Park. Ground breaking will be on October 17, 2016 with completed construction of the 200,000 sq ft factory anticipated by July 2017. To comply with its tax incentive package, Santa Rosa must have 10 new Kentucky employees and maintain its 190 full-time Kentucky resident employees and must add 60 new employees within 2 years. Santa Rosa anticipates they will ultimately have a staff of between 300 to 400. The average wage in 2017 will be $25 per hour. One of the deciding factors in the relocation was ease of access via Bardstown Rd to the Gene Snyder Freeway, then west along it to I 65 or east to I 64 and I 71. So travelling north, west or east, chances are those cars will pass by retail sites being marketed by Metro1 Realty.
  2. Community Sports and Recreation Park. Mt Washington city has just concluded contracts for the construction of a 33 acre Community Sports and Recreation Park which will be the envy of Kentucky. Construction begins in January 2017 with completion anticipated for Spring 2018. It will have state of the art playgrounds, sprayground, amphitheater, disc golf course, volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, soccer and football fields etc. See http://www.mtwashingtonky.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/Mt.-Wash-Community-Park.pdf
  3. River Crest Community. In 2016 Homerama gave its authoritative stamp of approval to Mt Washington by showcasing its newest ultra modern housing area, the River Crest Community. It is comprised of 5 subdivisions which can accommodate 550 new homes. About 100 lots and homes have already been sold. Home prices range between $200,000 and $450,000. River Crest has its own 7 recreation acre park.

Of course the economic engine driving all this development is Louisville with its expanding economy.
