Hike along the route taken by General John Hunt Morgan and his men in 1863 as they dashed across Meade County on their way to Indiana and Ohio, when he led his troops down the main street of Brandenburg and began ferrying men and supplies across the river. See where two steamboats ferried more than 2,200 men and their horses across the Ohio River for 16 hours while being fired on by the home guard from Corydon, Indiana. Clothesline of Quilts Take a drive along the country roads or Meade County and see how many of the 55 quilt blocks you can spot painted on the sides of county barns. This multi-county project, begun to preserve a valued cultural heritage of the region, began in Ohio a few years ago. Now hundreds of these beautifully pained quilt blocks can be found throughout Kentucky Roberts Family Farm Location: 125 Kennedy Road, Guston, KY 40142 Seeing a working farm is something the entire family can enjoy. Attractions feature a corn maze, horse or tractor drawn hayrides to a pumpkin patch and an animal petting area. Pick blackberries, take part in the Miss Fall Harvest Pageant, shop at an authentic country store that sells pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn, honey, local wood crafts and Rhonda Roberts’ own award winning homemade blackberry jam. It’s an experience everyone will enjoy, and especially young people, who will see firsthand what fertile land and hard working people can provide.
