Situated 8 miles northwest of Chicago's Loop, Albany Park is one of Chicago's most diverse communities.

The neighborhood was first settled as a farming community in the mid-1800s, when a local entrepreneur named Richard Rusk purchased 10 acres of land. Rusk opened a horse track on the land, which attracted city residents and ultimately led to the community's growing popularity. In 1889, the area, along with the rest of Jefferson Township, was annexed by Chicago. The neighborhood was reportedly named after Albany, New York, which was the hometown of one of the men who purchased 600 acres of land near the property.

The community is home to Albany Park Multicultural Elementary School, which serves students in 7th and 8th grade. Several Chicago Public Schools are also located in the area, including a number of elementary schools and Roosevelt High School.

Albany Park offers many acclaimed restaurants, including Arun's Thai Restaurant, which has been recognized by Chicago Magazine as one of the top 20 restaurants in Chicago. The neighborhood is easily accessible via the CTA's Brown and Blue Lines and the Edens or Kennedy Expressways. Community events that take place throughout the year include The Taste of Albany Park and The Albany Park "Bon Appetit" Restaurant Crawl.
