From the Owners.....
Wake up each morning and count the eagles from your bedroom window. The record is 56! Eagles are your everyday neighbors on this property and occasionally nest in sight of the kitchen window.
The views to the west are panoramic and include the Anchor River, the Anchor River Delta, Cook Inlet, and across Cook Inlet to the Alaska Range featuring majestic Mount Iliamna rising over 10,000 feet straight out of the sea. This is the "Pacific Rim of Fire" - five volcanoes can be seen from the kitchen window. On a clear day you can see over 100 miles to Cape Douglas without a man-made object in sight.
This property fronts on the Anchor River which is a world-class fishery supporting runs of King Salmon, Silver Salmon, Pink Salmon, Dolly Varden, and sea-run Steelhead trout. Cook Inlet, in front of the property, provides the best halibut sport fishing in the world. Halibut over 300 pounds are caught every year. Cook Inlet supports populations of seal, sea lion, sea otters, and several species of whales, all of which may occasionally be seen from the kitchen window.
The kitchen is large and well designed to accommodate gatherings of friends. My wife and I will miss the good times we have had in this home but now that we are older, and our children have left home, it is too large for us. The house would easily provide two separate living quarters. The area over the garages was designed, wired and plumbed for a two bedroom apartment but has been used as our offices.
The extra building lot (lot 6) adjacent to the house is presently used for a vegetable garden. Alaska has an excellent growing season due to the nearly continuous daylight in the summer months and fresh vegetables of most varieties can be grown.
Cook Inlet is home to the second highest tides in the world (in the area of 10 meters) and on low tides several delicious species of clams may be harvested.
Big game hunting opportunities abound in Alaska and the Anchor Point property provides a comfortable base to fly out to the best areas for moose, caribou, bear, dall sheep, elk, deer, muskox and bison.
Adjacent to the property is a 9 hole, par 30, executive golf course and driving range for your pleasure.
Also adjacent to the property is a 2,500 foot hard gravel runway, capable of supporting aircraft up to the DeHavilland twin otter. We own a 3,440 square foot hangar / storage building fronting the runway that is also available for sale . The airstrip is available for the use of owners of lots in Anchor Bluff Acres Subdivision at no cost. Fly-in in your own (or chartered) aircraft and make yourself at home. The property is, of course, also accessible from the road system. It is 18 paved miles to the Homer airport. The Homer airport runway is 6,700 ft long, paved, and will support jet aircraft of all sizes.
