Neighborhood:
Rudgear Estates is much more than a neighborhood or a place to live; it is an experience. This highly desirable neighborhood is located in South Walnut Creek toward the Alamo border. The neighborhood is generally bounded by the Shell Ridge Open Space to the east, Palmer Road to the west, and Rudgear Road to the south. The subdivision was constructed in the early 1970's by Whitecliff Homes, Inc. and two of the streets are named after the subdivider.
The Rudgear Community Park is a 16-acre facility that includes children's play areas, picnic tables with BBQ's, soccer field, basketball court, baseball field, tennis courts, and hiking trails. One of the many benefits of living here is The Rudgear Estate pool that is open and heated and has lifeguards in attendance from May through September each year.
The Rudgear Estates Homeowners Association owns over 30 acres of permanent open space, including portions of the ridges between Palmer Road and Whitecliff Way and the ridge to the east of Whitecliff Way. The City of Walnut Creek owns even more permanent open space at the end of Whitecliff Way, which in turn is adjacent to East Bay Regional Park District open space and Mt. Diablo State Park. You can literally walk on trails through permanent undeveloped open space from this neighborhood to the top of Mt. Diablo and for miles beyond.
