The City of Quincy, located in Norfolk County, is Boston's immediate neighbor to the South and is home to many beautiful public parks and beaches. Recently renovated Wollaston Beach is a lovely place to enjoy the ocean walk or relax on the beach with views of Boston. Quincy is also headquarters for Stop & Shop and the birthplace of Howard Johnson's and Dunkin' Donuts. Home to the largest Asian population in Massachusetts, Chinese and Vietnamese as well as other Asian languages are commonly spoken here. Often called the "City of Presidents", Quincy is the birthplace of both John Adams (second President of the United States) and John Quincy Adams (the nation's sixth President). Pronounced "Quinzy", the city was named after Colonel John Quincy, great-grandfather of John Quincy Adams. Quincy was officially incorporated as a separate town in 1792 and made a city in 1888. During the 19th century the city's primary industry was granite quarrying and in the 20th century Quincy became a leading shipbuilding center, however today the city is made up of mostly professionals the majority working in math and computer industries. Quincy has many young professionals that live here giving it vibrancy. Overall a diverse and great place to live!
