Riverbend is a desirable neighborhood in Sun City and known as a more upscale enclave on Route 170 featuring larger homes with larger lots than the rest of Sun City and more mature landscaping. Phase I on the right side of Tidewatch, is comprised of mostly Del Webb homes and Phase II (on the left side of Tidewatch) is mostly custom-built homes.  It is a waterfront, gated community near the Okatee (different spelling than Okatie, SC) River headwaters, known for its ideal location and is secluded in a wooded area. Sun City/Riverbend residents have quick access to Beaufort, Hilton Head, and Savannah. Riverbend is a neighborhood in Sun City where each home must have at least one resident at least 55 years of age. No one under 19 may reside in any Sun City neighborhood for more than 89 consecutive days. 

 

This premium gated neighborhood of Sun City has homes built on large lots with landscape, wooded, lagoon and marsh views. Neighborhood amenities include a waterfront clubhouse with a dock (for kayaking, fishing, crabbing, or shrimping), spa (overlooking the marsh) and a year-round heated, saltwater swimming pool. Riverbend residents also enjoy all Sun City Hilton Head amenities including 3 golf courses, 6 year-round heated pools (soon to be 7), 3 restaurants, 540-seat theater, 3000 square foot wood shop, tennis, pickleball courts, and 3 fitness centers. There are more than 150 Sun City Clubs and Groups you can join as a Riverbend resident.  Riverbend has a Social Committee which plans several events for the neighborhood residents during the year including Thirsty Thursdays, Mardi Gras, Halloween Costume, & Winter Holiday Parties.
