Looking for privacy, space and a contemporary home, but want to be a reasonable distance from shops and restaurants? This home at 16402 Jackson Hollow mixes contemporary style in a country setting, and is located in Haymarket less than fifteen minutes from shops and restaurants.
You won't see this home driving on Jackson Hollow Road, as it is set back on a shared driveway behind dense woods. The driveway is tree lined on either side. As the trees clear to the left, you will get your first glimpse of this one of a kind home when you pull into the amply parking area that can easily allow four vehicles to pull-in.
An expansive deck, the length of the home, sits at the front of the home, overlooking the slight downward sloping front yard. You won't see a neighboring home through the dense tree cover most months of the year. From your drive to the home you know you aren't far from the best shops, restaurants and healthcare the area has to offer, so the peaceful sense of seclusion seems surreal.
Inside you find a simple home with vaulted ceilings in the kitchen, family room and master bedroom. In the family room and master bedroom, these ceilings allow for lofts, giving this simple mountain home a contemporary flair.
The family room is my favorite space. Hardwoods floors and the wood burning stove fit the woodsy location. The metal spiral staircase to the loft above (complete with its own balcony) is a unique feature. The loft would make a great home office or reading nook.
The kitchen, accessed through the foyer entry or family room, is another expansive area. Here you have an eat-in area that could accommodate virtually any size dining table. Here, a light ceramic tile floor compliments the light maple cabinets and white appliances.
At the end of the hall leading from the foyer, you find the master bedroom. The space for the bedroom sits right below the loft and gives the room a cozy feel. And the loft above, larger than the loft overlooking the family room, begs to become a sitting room or meditation area. It even has a balcony overlooking the back yard. Of course, no master bedroom would be complete without an attached full bathroom. This one has a very sizable linen closet.
The second and third bedrooms are located on the opposite side of the hall, where their windows peer out onto the front deck. And the second full bathroom is just across the hall. Both bathrooms in the home have a very attractive ceramic tile floor.
There is no basement. And other than the loft spaces, no upper level. As stated earlier, it is a simple space.
Outdoors there is plenty to enjoy with your loft balconies, expansive front deck, rear patio and fenced back yard all in wooded seclusion.
A few notes: The heat pump was replaced in the spring of 2017. Jackson Hollow, though gravel, is a state maintained road. The shared driveway is the responsibility of those that share it. Schools are Gravely Elementary, Reagan Middle and Battlefield High.
