Neighborhood Info

Hollywood, Florida is a true hometown, beach town. Founded in 1925, this sleepy destination arose in popularity over the years as an unspoiled area for vacationers to get a feel of true South Florida, without all of the hustle-and-bustle of the nearby areas of Fort Lauderdale and Miami, yet close to enough to all the action.

Historic Downtown- Young Circle

Characterized by quaint sidewalk cafe’s, brick lined walks and six blocks of unique boutiques, shops, art galleries and dozens of excellent restaurants, nightclubs and bars along Hollywood Boulevard and Harrison Street, the pedestrian-friendly environment is the perfect place to enjoy South Florida.

Just minutes from the beach, the downtown district is on the National Register of Historic Places and is the backdrop for year-round festivals, street markets and entertainment.

In the heart of Downtown, the Arts Park at Young Circle offers a vast, 10-acre playground for people of all ages.

Hollywood is home to the 1,500-plus-acre Anne Kolb Nature Center and Marina, a recreational dreamland with trails, canoeing, fishing and boat tours. Hollywood Beach presents a entirely different beach scene from Fort Lauderdale, with its so-called Broadwalk lined by beach shops and sidewalk cafes with a French-Canadian flair contributed by its wintering residents.  (http://www.visithollywoodfl.org/anne_kolb.aspx)

HOLLYWOOD, FL RESTAURANTS & NIGHTLIFE

Hollywood is a culinary delight with dining and entertainment hot spots from city to shore.

Hollywood Beach Broadwalk offers you unique dining experience; eclectic meals served up with ocean breezes and live music, under the bright tropical stars. Named one of America\’s Best Beach Boardwalks by Travel + Leisure Magazine in May 2010, this is where you will find dozens of casual seaside cafes serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week.  Expect to find authentic Floribbean cuisine and family-friendly favorites including pizza, burgers and ice-cream as you watch people stroll the oceanfront Broadwalk as they have done since the 1920s.

If you are in the mood for watching a parade of yachts navigating the Intracoastal Waterway and enjoy gorgeous sunset views while you dine, then dockside dining will be the answer.  Right on A1A, there is wide variety of great restaurants serving up everything from delectable stone crabs, fresh local seafood and Mediterranean and Italian fare to the world\’s best hamburgers, served in a bath tub at the infamous Le Tub Saloon.

Or, enjoy the more urban feel of lively and hip Down-Town\’s Young Circle, where a number of sidewalk cafes and restaurants are offering a veritable cultural feast to locals and visitors.

The guide below will help you plan your dining experience in Hollywood offering links and maps to the restaurants that interest you.

And, when it comes to nightlife, Hollywood\’s own Hard Rock and Casino definitely tops the chart. Of course that is for now- until Margaritaville, another exciting project planned to come to Hollywood Beach, opens its doors.

The luxurious, 349-room Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort is planned for a five-acre site between Johnson and Michigan streets. The resort will include convention and ballroom space, retail stores, restaurants, full-service spa and fitness center, a dual lane wave rider, and other amenities. Plans also include a 1,600-square-foot Landshark Bar and Grill on the Intracoastal Waterway featuring dock space for boat access.

The project is designed to be a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver resort, a new boat dock with eco-tours along the Intracoastal, and more entertainment and outdoor seating at the beach theater.

The developer is currently working with Broward County to re-map the construction site, a process known as platting that can take several months. The developer also has applied for building permits and has secured environmental permits from the state.

The Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort promises to bring \”Changes in Latitudes and Changes in Attitude\” along central Hollywood Beach.

Simply put:  Hollywood, Florida is a great place to visit, but it is even greater to call home.
