Golden Valley Estates is a gated community in the
Fall Creek Development. It covers 1100 acres on Biggerstaff Mountain in rural
Golden Valley, NC and is the first community Fall Creek Land Company created in
North Carolina. Golden Valley Estates is divided into 139 parcels with five
miles of paved and named roads. It is a largely green development located halfway
between Shelby and Marion, NC, convenient to I 26, I 85 and I 40. Airports are
in Charlotte and Spartanburg with Marchman Field for local air traffic. It is
one of the most rural developments in Rutherford County and, with its
spectacular views and peaceful setting, is perfect for a getaway.
In 2004, Fall Creek Land Company turned the
development over to Golden Valley Estates Homeowner’s Association which
currently meets twice a year, once in April and once in October. Their
objective is to govern the development and meet the needs of the growing
community. They are also dedicated to maintaining a quality lifestyle and life
experience in their community.
Deed restrictions are
very workable, but properties may not be subdivided. There are no size or time
constraints placed on building, but when you do build there are approved
building materials. You do not have to go before an architectural review board,
but you cannot set up a modular, use vinyl siding, or live in a tent or camper
(for longer than a few months). Camping on your own property is permitted, as
is hunting.
Between the South
Mountains and the Appalachian Mountain Range you’ll find what’s known as the
Isothermal weather belt. This is an area where the weather tends to be milder,
winter and summer, than the surrounding areas. Within an hour’s drive you can
pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway in Marion, enjoy an afternoon at Lake James, or
outdoor dining in Lake Lure; the possibilities are diverse and plentiful.
Whether you come for a day or a lifetime, if being surrounded by nature, enjoying
four distinct, lovely seasons, and a temperate climate is important to you,
this is one area you owe it to yourself to see. Views are absolutely
free.
If you’re not familiar with Rutherford County you
might like to do a little research. Here’s a link for general area information:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rutherford_County,_North_Carolina Rutherford County is huge at ~566 square miles
and diverse from the flatlands to the mountains with lots of valleys
in-between. Rutherford County is comprised of 17 townships with names like:
Golden Valley, Duncan’s Creek, Logan’s Store – these I’m told were the areas
that hosted post offices, back when mail was delivered by horseback. Within
those townships are many communities. My husband and I live in Sunshine
Community. Near to us is Washburn Community and Washburn’s Store, which
actually is a general store. You will find a link to a video about Washburn’s
Store on my real estate website KDMcCall.com . At Washburn Store you can buy anything from
pickles, to hoop cheese, to a wood cook stove, and a cast iron pan….
While you’re there see my Favorites , a links list, with the little heart and Places in
the menu bar.
http://www.rutherfordcountync.gov/ has a lot of local information including tourism. The
chamber of Commerce will be of some benefit, perhaps you’d like to look at the
county demographics Rutherford County
Chamber which says we have ~563 square
miles. And in case you ran across the term Isothermal Weather
region, here’s my favorite explanation Thermal
Belts in NC
You might like to see the Farmer’s
Fresh Market, Area Information or Community Links in my blog at the GoldenValley Blog. I’ve
found a couple of PBS films about the area and embedded them at the bottom of
my real estate blog. KDsFarm Sorry,
but my real estate blog is loading pretty slowly… I have too many videos
embedded in it. I need to get rid of a few, but which ones?
Here’s a ROC link Explore, Exercise, Relax. There are lots of things to do here, but most of my
clients don’t come up to do anything. In fact they come to do nothing. They
just want to enjoy the peace and solitude of a real mountain retreat, to feel
the change of pace, to relax and recharge. I think you’ll find, most of the
time, once you get here, you’ll never leave your property. We like to say we’re
20 miles from anywhere, and we like it like that.
