The County is comprised of 14 townships with names like: Golden Valley, Duncan’s Creek, Logan’s Store, Cool Springs… these I’m told were areas that hosted post offices, back when mail was delivered by horseback. Within those townships are many communities. My husband and I live in Sunshine Community. Nearby, is Washburn Community and Washburn’s Store, which actually is a store. You will find more about it here Washburn’s Store be sure to stop in if you head this way. At Washburn Store you can buy anything from pickles, to hoop cheese, to a wood cook stove, and a cast iron pan….

We’re so far out in the country the speed limit is 55 and NO stoplights. While there’s always something going on, Kid Stuff, Arts and Crafts, Historical Places, Gold Mining, the Bennett Car Museum and lots more, you’ll have to drive to get there.
