Situated a one-hour drive from downtown Chicago, Wadsworth is a small village located in Lake County. Wadsworth ultimately was named after Elisha Wadsworth, who was one of the railroad's major shareholders. In 1962, Wadsworth was officially incorporated as a village. Students in Wadsworth are served by a number of school districts, including Beach Park School District 3, Gurnee School District 56, Millburn Community Consolidated School District 24, Woodland School District 50 Warren Township High School and Zion-Benton Township High School District 126. With the Tri-State Tollway and Skokie Highway passing through Wadsworth, residents have easy access to the city. Wadsworth thrives during the summer when it hosts the Wadsworth Farmer's Market from July through October. During the winter, the community holds its annual tree lighting ceremony which features a variety of family activities.
