ABOUT PALM SPRINGS:
Located just 115 miles from Los Angeles CA, the desert playground of Palm Springs has offered endless sunshine and quick getaways to Southern Californians for years. With a convenient modern airport, anyone can come enjoy the golf, shopping, gaming and dining opportunities in this Desert paradise. Palm Springs real estate represents some of the best over-all retirement/vacation home prices in the otherwise pricey California real estate market.
While many of our visitors and second home owners come from the Pacific Northwest and Canada we are starting to see many more visitors from East of the Mississippi. The ease of arriving by air has greatly increased since the expansion of the convenient Palm Springs International airport. Once a sleepy little, winter vacation spot in the California desert the 7 cities that make up the Coachella valley have blossomed into vibrant year round communities. Palm Springs offers an enviable resort lifestyle that includes over 320 days of Sunshine per year. Neighborhoods and Architecture: Historic mixes with trendy and new blends with old in the neighborhoods of Palm Springs. From the ULTRA modern soaring roof lines of the multi-million dollar ALTA neighborhood in South Palm Springs to the more traditional California Ranch style homes of Tahquitz River Estates. Mid Century architecture with pedigrees from the likes of Donald Wexler and Alexander abound in the neighborhoods of Palm Springs. From Deepwell, to Ruth Hardy Park to The Movie Colony, Las Palmas and Little Tuscany. Palm Springs is truly an architectural jewel box. The Future: looks quite bright for Palm Springs. The 2013 Season is ending strong with amazing entertainment, larger than ever crowds of visitors, more flights and lots of new or improved restaurants. From Zin Bistro, Cheekys, Sammy G's, Tinto to Rio Azul and a revamped Kaiser Grill plus the recently redone Saguaro Hotel. The city has passed a new Tax measure to support a project to redevelop the old Palm Springs Fashion Plaza Mall and opening up a street leading to the front of the Palm Springs Art Museum. This work is already underway as the old BOA building at Tahquitz has been demolished and most of the backside of the mall is down too. The Marilyn Monroe statue took up residence in 2012 at the corner of Tahquitz and Palm Canyon. The Morrison townhomes are finished and soon the intersection of Amado and Caballeros will see a new development of 40+ single family homes called SOL. The Escena development that was stalled is now back up and running offering new homes with a modern flair and a popular golf club and restaurant as well. Good Eats: Culinary delights are expanding rapidly in
Palm Springs. TRIO, with reasonably priced food and drink in a
pleasant setting it has quickly become the place to be seen. The
classy Tropicale continues to delight with amazing cuisine and a chic
setting. The Purple Palm and
the "Citron" at the Viceroy hotel also offer amazing
culinary experiences. More fine dining can be found at Copley's & Hamburger
Marys is a fun casual experience. The popular local
coffee house Koffi expanded to South Palm Springs (directly across
the street from the Biltmore Condos on the corner of Camino Real.) plus they
have expanded their original location at Alejo and Palm Canyon
Drive. The colorful SAGUARO hotel, corner of Sunrise and HWY
111 has their restaurant Tinto and recently the Smoketree
Shopping center revamped the West end of their plaza into a restaurant hub
with Giuseppe's, Native foods, PHO 533 and several others. Of course we
can't overlook longtime favorites still going strong such
as Spencers', Billy Reids', Wangs, Shermans'
Deli and Ricks'. One thing is for certain you won't go hungry in
Palm Springs
