Cedaredge, Colorado is in Delta County. It's one of several small mountain communities that make up the Surface Creek area. It's located on Scenic Byway Highway 65. This is the highway that takes you up and over Grand Mesa.
The Surface Creek area is known for it's wonderful orchards. It's part of the banana belt which makes for hot summers and fairly mild winters. The area is also known for it's abundance of fresh, locally grown produce of all kinds and there are several local farmer's markets throughout the summer.
If you love playing outdoors, this is the place for you. Grand Mesa has over 300 lakes and most of them have fish. The Surface Creek Valley is centrally located to so many outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, hiking, mountain biking and camping. You can enjoy all of these activities and not have to travel far.
There is no typical thing about Cedaredge. In one day you can play in the snow on Grand Mesa and then come back to the valley and play nine holes of golf in a t shirt.
Every drive is a scenic drive. The Grand Mesa dominates the landscape of Delta County. It's known as the world's largest flattop mountain. The West Elk Mountains border the county to the east.
The town hosts many events over the course of the year including the famous Applefest in October and Celebrate Cedaredge in June. There are numerous concerts throughout the year as well, and the town is getting ready to open a new Arts Center Building.
Delta County is an extremely rural area. Delta is the county seat and largest community in the county. There are about 9 thousand people in Delta, and the county has a total population of about 30 thousand people.
