About Westlake

Westlake, Ohio is a beautiful suburb of Cleveland. Located 12 miles west of the city, Westlake has much to offer.

In 1810, the area was first settled and named Dover Township. About 100 years later the township split into three, creating Bay Village, North Olmsted and the new Dover Village. The town was then renamed again to Westlake in 1940 in order to cease being confused with Dover, Ohio. It was officially dubbed a city in 1957.

Westlake offers many employment opportunities to various professions. St. John Medical Center, Hyland Software, and Westlake City Schools are among the top employers for the city. With a quick commute to Cleveland, many other employers are within close distance. The Westlake City School District offers a top-notch public education to the area’s children, and the Westlake Porter Public Library gives easy access to many books.

Crocker Park is located in Westlake and boasts many retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and even permanent living spaces, giving everyone an opportunity to find what they are looking for. Interstate 90 and Highway 20 run through the city, making it convenient to travel to Cleveland and surrounding towns. The Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is a 20-minute drive away and gives travelers many national and international destinations.
