This Carriage home in Braemar is a Norwood model by Brookfield Homes.  The first crowd pleaser is likely the covered front porch which can be enjoyed with a porch swing or rocker.  Personally, I love the corner lot.  It gives the feeling of a lot of space and allows for a side street entrance for the detached garage.  Most of the neighbors have a driveway cutting right through their front yard.  Not this Carriage home.  The side street entry garage allows you to use your back yard as a yard...not a driveway.  

 

Inside, the main level is adorned in hardwood floors.  Enter into a two story foyer, flanked by a formal living and formal dining room.  Staircase to the upper level is turned sideways right in front of your.  Go left and you are in the kitchen.  Go right and you pass the powder room and end up in the family room.  No matter how you get to the back of the home, it is open space.  A gas fireplace in the family room makes a nice focal point.  The kitchen has a gas range, large single basin sink with a kitchen window view of white picket fences and suburban lawn.  There's a large island with overhang for barstool seating.  Between the kitchen and family room is also a breakfast nook.  Look closely at the window bathing this room in afternoon light.  There's an antique shutter window treatment adding loads of rustic charm to this space.  A laundry room off the kitchen also works as a mud room and is where you'll find a sizable pantry.  This mudroom takes you out to the rear deck.  It's also the closest entry from the detached garage.

 

The wood deck is inviting and one of my favorite places.  That probably has a lot to do with the feeling of seclusion thanks to the evergreens and the weeping willow.  The side yard is partially fenced and has a concrete paver patio where you can sit and watch the world go by.

 

Back inside, the bedrooms are on the upper level.  There is an owner's suite with a large bedroom, walk-in closet and  attached full bathroom with dual sinks/vanity.  The little things like a medicine cabinet in the bathroom might go unnoticed by some, but add everyday convenience.

 

The second and third bedrooms are exactly the same size.  One has north facing windows.  The others south facing windows.  In between these rooms sits the second full bathroom.  Nothing fancy, but everything you need.

 

The basement is mostly finished, with two recreation spaces on opposite sides of the staircase.  There is also a walk-up exit from the basement and an additional full bathroom.  The entrance to the bedroom is inconspicuous from the kitchen.  It is a slatted double door that doesn't attract undue attention or make the kitchen feel crowded.

 

This home is truly a colonial charmer.
