Venice, Florida is located in Sarasota County on the gulf coast of Florida. It is known worldwide for the beauty of its natural setting and for the quality of life it affords.

The city of Venice was designed by John Nolen one of the leading American city planners of the first half of the twentieth century. He laid out the grand central axis of Venice Avenue, with a geometric layout of radiating and diagonal streets, and extensive public parks including the beachfront.

Today we are blessed with the charming city of Venice. Venice Avenue offers restaurants and shops and it runs from the Gulf of Mexico to the Myakka River. Centennial Park is also on Venice Avenue, providing  a large open area with a gazebo that is wonderful for concerts and public gatherings. The are many architecturally significant buildings in Venice.

At the foot of Venice Avenue is the famous Venice Beach, known world-wide for the jetties, the beach and for it’s shark’s teeth. There is even an annual Shark’s Tooth Festival – where else can you find that?

The Legacy Trail runs from Venice to Sarasota and it is a wonderful trail for biking and walking. The trail runs right through Oscar Scherer State Park.

There are year round Farmers Markets, golf, kayaking, fishing, craft fairs, a fabulous YMCA and lots of other activities. Plus the added bonus of being a short drive to Sarasota if you want additional activity.

Sarasota and surrounding area is considered the cultural capital of Florida. There is something for everyone.
