About the Neighborhood

Venice is located midway between Tampa and Fort Myers on the west coast of Florida. It is one of the first planned cities built in the United States. Venice boasts beautifully landscaped boulevards and parks with Northern Italian Renaissance architecture.

Venice is completely surrounded by water with three bridges providing access to the downtown area. Scenic Venice Avenue leads right to the Venice Public Beach. Additional beaches include Brohard Beach and Caspersen Beach, each with it's own atmosphere. The jetties are a favorite place for fishing, basking in the sun, watching the boaters, and enjoying our glorious sunsets. You may even see our dolphins and manatees frolicking in the water.

Maxine Barritt Park provides a picnic shelter for large gatherings and an extraordinary view from the walking trails around the lake. Down the road is the Brohard Paw Park - the only beach in the county for dogs to enjoy.

Venice is the Sharks Tooth Capital of the World - the annual Sharks Tooth Festival in April is not to be missed. The quaint downtown with it's palm tree lined streets includes eclectic shops and fabulous restaurants. Centennial Park is in the middle, with a gazebo where there are frequent free concerts in season. There is a Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings with fresh produce, flowers, plants and crafts year round.

Venice also has an art center, a community theater, a symphony orchestra and festivals throughout the year. The annual Christmas Boat Parade is in December where lighted boats cruise along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Venice has three miles of beaches, more than 20 miles of bike trails including the Venetian Waterway Park and the Legacy Trail, a new 9-hole disc golf course, public lighted tennis courts, many golf courses, fishing and every water sport imaginable.
