Cascades Community Association is a 2,500 acre planned community with 6,500 homes along the Potomac River north of Route 7. It received the "Finest for Family Living" award for 1993 and 1994, the Best Large Association Award in 2002, and the Washington Metropolitan Chapter Community Associations Institute’s (WMCCAI) 2011 Humanitarian of the Year. Amenities include five community centers, 5 swimming pools (of which one has designated hours exclusively for lap lane swimming), 15 tennis courts of which 4 have lights, 10 multipurpose courts, 25 tot lots, a bocce court and a soccer field. Riverfront access to the Potomac River along with a boat launch, 18 hole golf course, mini golf, rental cabins, and a picnic area are all available at Algonkian Regional Park.
