The Kelley House. This picturesque home, originally designed by the Kelley’s was built and owned by Jane Kelley, the widow of Healdsburg's only whaling captain, William H. Kelley. The Kelley’s owned the parcel of land just north of Grant Street between Prince and Johnson Streets with their original home, still there at the Johnson Street end of that parcel.

The Queen Anne style was popular in Healdsburg from 1880-1910 with this being one of the last that has been kept intact with its original millwork, window casings and signature century old glass. The home has all of its straight fir floors that have not been pierced for over a century. The structure itself is built mostly of heart redwood.

This home is like a cocoon dormant ready to birth a precious butterfly or a flower just prior to bloom. The Kelley House is located in the historic homes area of Healdsburg and oriented perfectly on the lot to allow any designers signature adorn the home.

The original designer, Jane Kelley was an adventurous woman that embarked on two of Captain Kelley's longest journeys to the Arctic. Captain Kelley was locally known for his many efforts to benefit the improvement of the downtown area of Healdsburg. Kelley founded the original “Healdsburg Workman’s Lodge” The Captain found great pleasure by spending afternoons in our plaza giving lectures and panoramic entertainments (large oil murals of foreign lands & whaling expeditions).
