Tellico Plains, Tennessee is a little town with arts and crafts old buildings.  The Tellico Bakery resides in an old historic building that has been restored and produces some of the best coffee and food that your could ever want.  The town has events each year on weekends and sponsor biking marathons and many other activities.  All the merchants toss in and everyone makes cookies, etc and welcome bikers and visitors from all over the US.  There is a beautiful City Hall and Museum that provides many types of information to tell the story of Tellico Plains.  Actually the Cherohala Skyway was a trail that went from Tellico Plain to Robbinsville, North Carolina and was traveled by covered wagons each year as a tradition.  There are many books in the Library of the stories of this quaint town.  There was once a weaving factory there.  Now there are art studios, pottery studios, and great friendly citizens. 
 
The Cherohala is about 53 mile long and starts at about 800 feet above sea level and goes up to about 5,000 feet above sea level and decends down to Robinsville,
N.C.
 
Knoxville is 35 minutes away and Gatlinburg is an hour away.  Shopping and dining is convenient in many areas.  Upscale malls are less than 30 minutes away,
Tellico Plains is the Gatlinburg of the 70's.  Nice and quaint.
