Merryall, New Milford, Connecticut. The section of New Milford known as Merryall is set in the beautiful hills of Litchfield County in the northern part of New Milford between Kent and New Preston. It has long been an extremely popular section of town. The homes are nestled in a highly wooded area, with homes, large estates and farms spotting the countryside.

The Merryall section of New Milford was given its name by a group of men who were surveying the area between 1776 and 1731, it is not quite clear. However what is clear is that they were dining by a spring, shared a bottle of spirits, and named the area “Merryall” as they were Merry all! A book titled “History of the towns of New Milford and Bridgewater, Connecticut, 1703- 1882 by Samuel Orcutt is a good read, I find myself fascinated by the early residents of New Milford Township.
