Lake Barcroft is a unique community just seven miles from downtown Washington, DC, and 15-30 minutes to Pentagon and Reagan National Airport. 1,050 homes surround a 135-acre private lake with five sandy beaches (for residents only). Four beaches are staffed with lifeguards during summer months. Swimming, fishing, boating, and, occasionally, ice skating are pastimes enjoyed by the residents of this community. Lakeside activities from Easter egg hunts, Fourth of July parade and lakeside fireworks extravaganza, to Labor Day festivities, neighborhood music festivals, a private listserve, and more unite the neighborhood. See more information on the community (a Washingtonian Magazine “Greatest areas to live” selection) at www.lakebarcroft.org
In addition to the resort-like living at Lake Barcroft, there are many nearby parks providing abundant recreational opportunities. Mason District Park, with lighted tennis courts, soccer, baseball and basketball facilities, an outdoor amphitheater where concerts and dance performances are held all summer, a refreshment stand, restrooms, a ParCourse, hiking trails, a fenced off-leash dog park, and a summertime Farmer’s Market is 5 minutes away. During the summer months, Mason District hosts Arts in the Parks, a free children's entertainment series, and the Spotlight by Starlight movie series.
Pinecrest Golf Course, a public, 9-hole course, is also just 5 minutes away. And, just across from Pinecrest Golf Course, is Green Spring Gardens, one of the county’s two horticultural parks. Stroll through 5 acres of gardens, enjoy educational programs in our 18th century manor house, attend classes in the visitor center, or research gardening questions in the horticultural library.
