This classic Eastern Shore style- big house, little house, colonnade, and kitchen - with the oldest section of the house being built as a residence of the Rev. Cave Jones, Episcopal rector and schoolmaster, and his wife, Molly, in 1797. The home was added onto in1849. In 1850, Bascom's Chapel was built in the front part of the yard. For the next 50 years it served as a church and later as a private school.
In 2006, THE FITZGERALD HOUSE, was completely renovated and doubled in square footage, preserving the features and character of the original home. The gardens are planted with English boxwoods and old perennials. The yard slopes gentley to the water. The deep water allows the mooring of sailboats, the dock allows easy access. The bulk heading has just been replaced.
