Rancho Mirage was once a pass through point for stagecoaches headed to a gold Rush in Arizona. 

In the 1800's the train tracks were built across the desert and by the early 1900's Highway 111 which was called Bradshaw highway was created.

The Clancy Lane neighborhood was once called Rancho Del Sol Estates.

In the 1920's there was a developer that wanted to recreate the Nile Valley in Egypt here in the Desert Rancho Mirage was to be the site of this recreation - the stock market crash put an end to this idea however. Imagine modern day Rancho Mirage having pyramids and camels!

The Rancho Las Palmas resort once had its own airport and polo field it was called Desert Air Resort.

The Eisenhower Medical center is built on the grounds of a former 300 acre ranch and the land was donated by Bob Hope.
