FROM THE time you enter Lake Chaparral you will experience the warmth and friendliness of Calgary's early western heritage. The exceptional homes in the community are designed by Calgary's finest builders and offer a complete range of western exteriors with a variety of features, such as front attached, rear attached or detached garages, porches, weather vanes and stone masonry details. Resale homes range from $260,000 - $1,300,000.
Chaparral residents enjoy being a part of a master-planned neighbourhood that provides for future schools, day-care facilities, and neighbourhood shopping. In 1997 a public transit route was established. Lake Chaparral is also located close to large regional shopping centres and Fish Creek Park, and construction of a small, community commercial area is currently underway which will provide many convenient services for residents. Downtown Calgary is easily accessed by Deerfoot Trail and Macleod Trail.
Lake Chaparral is one of many Genstar lakeside communities in Calgary. Genstar's track record also includes Lake Midnapore, Lake Bonavista, Lake Bonaventure, and Lake Sundance. The 33 acre, freshwater lake and 20 acre park area makes it seem like you're living in a resort. Lake Chaparral is the city's only lake community with a full-time Recreation Director. She organises a variety of programs and activities for all community residents, from Stampede BBQ's to art classes to fishing clinics! Lake Chaparral is a unique four season resort community designed for active lifestyles. Whether you enjoy boating, playing tennis, fishing, skating, tobogganing, or strolling leisurely along a network of pathways, you'll never run out of exciting things to do in this community.
FAST FACTS on Lake Chaparral: The length and width of the lake is approximately 600 meters and 400 metres respectively, and it is 12 metres at its deepest. By the time the lake was completed in November 1995, 1.2 million cubic metres of earth had been excavated and 200 million gallons of fresh water was used to fill it. In order to maintain high water quality, lake water is aerated by being pumped at a rate of 7000 gallons/minute to the hilltop and cascading back down to the lake.
Directions: Take Macleod Trail south from downtown Calgary to Marquis of Lorne Trail/Highway 22X, head east and follow the signs.
