Once an area filled with boarded up buildings, vagrants and empty streets, Midtown Atlanta is now the Premiere location in Atlanta! The Midtown Alliance is guiding The Midtown BluePrint...and now Peachtree Street (also know as The Midtown Mile) is lined with luxury condominiums, office towers and retail shops. New construction has slowed, but as things continue, Midtown will offer almost 1 MILLION SQUARE FEET OF RETAIL SPACE....the size of Phipps Plaza in Buckhead! Cultural activities abound, from the Fox Theatre, High Museum, Alliance Theatre, and the Center for Puppetry Arts are just a few! New restaurants ranging from Mexican to Sushi offer you dining options galore..Your friends will love to visit you!
And then there is Piedmont Park, the “Central Park” of Midtown Atlanta. In fact, it was even designed by the Olmsted Brothers, pre-eminent landscape architects of the time, (and sons of Frederick Law Olmsted), who developed a master plan for the park. Due to budget limitations, their plan for Piedmont Park was not fully implemented. Nevertheless, the Olmsted Brothers’ 1912 plan greatly influenced the development of Piedmont Park. In fact, the current master plan, adopted by the City of Atlanta and Piedmont Park Conservancy in 1995, honors the brothers’ original vision for the park. It’s sometimes called Midtown Atlanta’s “backyard.”
