The Diverse City of Glendale 

 The City of Glendale, Arizona, home of the 2008 and 2015 Super Bowls, is an expansive and always growing part of the Phoenix Metro area.  Glendale has much to offer its residents, from the stadiums of 2 professional sports teams mixed with the diverse night life of the Westgate Entertainment District , a large shopping mall as well as a outlet mall, and a quaint historic downtown square.  The diversity Glendale provides makes it a popular place to live and hang out.  

Historic Glendale

With it's rich history, the City of Glendale sits just 9 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix.  Glendale is connected to Phoenix by the infamous 18-mile long diagonal road called "Grand Ave" which was created by the founder of Glendale, William John Murphy.  Mr. Murphy was hired by Arizona Canal Company to construct a 40-mile long canal to bring the water from the Salt River to the Valley.  The canal was built from Granite Reef, 22 miles Northeast of Phoenix to New River, 39 miles of North of Phoenix.  This canal led to the founding of several Phoenix communities, including Glendale, in the 1880s.

Annual Festivals

Glendale hosts numerous festivals such as the Glendale Chocolate Festival, Glendale Folk & Heritage Festival, Glendale Jazz and Blues Festival as well as Glendale Glitters during the holidays.

Westgate Entertainment District

Westgate has so much to do!  Looking for a sports event?  Westgate is home of the Arizona Cardinals stadium (University of Phoenix Stadium) and the Arizona Coyotes hockey arena (Gila River Arena).  These stadiums also host numerous concerts and events throughout the year, meaning there's usually something going on at Westgate.  

As well as sports and concerts, Westgate has an outdoor setting with a large water feature where you can find live music on the weekend.  In addition to shopping and a movie theater, Westgate has numerous restaurants and bars.  There's a great variety of food to enjoy, from Chipotle to Kabuki Japanese Restaurant to Opa Life Greek Cafe, just to name a few.  Dave and Buster's recently opened a fun place to hang out and play some games!  Gorden Beirsch offers great fresh micro brew beers and delicious food.  The Yard House is a beer lover's dream with 130 domestic, imported and craft beers on tap.  Bar Louie offers "Great Food.  Great Music."  And that isn't even close to half of the dining options!

Arizona's Antique Capital

Historic downtown Glendale is a great place for antiquing, featuring numerous stores.  Stop for a bite to eat in between shops.

Tanger Outlet Westgate
With a recent expansion completed in 2016, Tanger Outlet Mall at Westgate features a large variety of brand-name and designer outlet stores.  The mall has clothes galore, including baby clothes and active wear, shoes, sunglasses, cooking ware, makeup, purses, luggage, jewelry, perfume, vitamins, food and more!  It's easy to spend a day here and score some good deals. Make sure to go to customer service and sign up for their Tanger Club for some great coupons!

Arrowhead Towne Center
 

A large shopping center that includes a food court, Macy's, Dillard's, Dick's Sporting Goods, JCPenny, AMC Theater and hundreds of stores.  Numerous restaurants and tons of shopping surround the mall as well.  The Arrowhead Towne Center is close to the Peoria Sports Complex.  

Location and Continued Growth
Beautiful views of the surrounding desert mountains.   Flagstaff and snow skiing is just over a 2 hour drive.  Escape the heat in the summer with just a 45 minute get away.  Or hit Lake Pleasant, it's only 40 minutes away. 
 

The Westgate area in Glendale continues to grow. Desert Diamond West Valley Resort Casino opened up phase 1 in December of 2015.  It's a 1.2 million square-foot casino resort located just east of Westgate at the Loop 101 and Northern Avenue.  The resort includes a casino, a spa hotel, a 3 acre atrium, event center, restaurants and bars, retail space and convention center.
