About the Neighborhood

Cimmarron Cove is a gate community located off of Ramon Road just across the Palm Springs city line. Built in 2004 and 2005 these newer homes have Tuscan finishes and views of the mountains. A large sports court with an adjacent pool and spa and BBQ area creates a large central park right at the entry gate for the use of all residents.

Conveniently located to all service you will also enjoy the proximity to the Cimmaron golf course which is on the west side of the development and whose club house is mere minutes from your doorstep.

Located between Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage Cathedral City is a nice mix of residential and retail. With unique neighborhoods such as the Cove, golf resorts such as Cathedral Canyon Country Club, Desert Princess/Doral Resort ,Cimarron and new housing developments such as San Toro Estates, Tapestry and Campanile there really is something for everyone.

Cathedral City launched an ambitious redevelopment of its downtown area a few years ago. While the city continues to grow with auto dealerships and retail outlets (Trader Joe's and Target) they have also created a new city hall, an IMAX/ Mary Pickford movie theater complex, and a total of 130 acres of new or remodeled stores. Well worth the trip with more to come.

The Field of Dreams softball complex on the corner of Date Palm and Dinah Shore drives, made up of four softball fields designed as replicas of four major league ballparks. The Pepsi All-Star Softball Game was held there since 1998.

Cathedral City High School opened in 1991 is a major educational and recreational center to the city. The varsity football and basketball teams had earned CIF-southern California championship runs in the late 1990's and early 2000's.

In 1991, Wal-Mart selected Cathedral City as one of the company's first stores in California, but the store closed when the company opened its Supercenter in nearby Palm Springs in 2004.

Cathedral City offers championship golf as part of the Palm Springs areas love of golf, The Doral Resorts-Desert Princess is a hotel/condo/golf course resort and a new Sheraton Resort complex is going in downtown on the corner of State Highway 111 and Date Palm Drive.

The neighborhood of Minerva Drive has an annual christmas time light event every December since the first event held in 1987. The homeowners heavily decorate the block's 35 homes and lawns, and streetlights are even covered in holiday decor draws in tens of thousands of spectactors to Minerva Drive for a look. It is often renamed Candy Cane Lane during the annual light show.

Cathedral City hosts an annual Mexican Independence Day festival on every third weekend of September, also has an "el Grito de Dolores" to commemorate the event at the city hall/movie theater complex. The city has an economic partnership with the Mexican state of Jalisco, a large source of local immigration.

Chicano folk musician, Lalo Guerrero lived in Cathedral City in his final years. Also the city was the teenage home of actress Suzanne Somers, and a winter residence for actors Robert Duvall and Martin Landau in the 1960s, and TV show host Monty Hall in the 1990s.
